Hi blog readers, this has been a fairly busy week and I have 3 paintings to share with you today.I also wanted to tell you that I finished my commisioned work and had a good reaction from the recipient. This pleased me because I always worry when working on a commision that the customer has an idea of what they want and that what I do won't be it! In truth I have had a good reaction from all of the paintings I have been commisioned to do so far, but they are so much harder to paint than my every day work. This one in particular had lots of things to include and I took time to think how to arrange things in a street scene and also to get each bit looking right. Any way I am relieved now its done. In addition to the commission I worked on this painting which I have called Church Street after a street near my home town. I photographed part of the scene whilst out jogging a week or two ago.
Church street by Carolyn Boddy  sold
I particuarly like the church in the painting but in reality there is no bright light coming from the window because the buiding has been unused as a church for as long as I have lived in my home town. It is architectually beautiful and in my simplistic style I don't do it justice. Sadly it has stood empty and disused  and although I admire the building I have never been in it because the floor is unsafe. Any way recently I have found out that it has been purchased by a local church group who are restoring it. I feel pleased as its a lovely building and maybe one day it will have a light shining from those leaded windows just like in my painting. Any way, as well as this painting I have been watching a bit of the Cheltnam horse racing on the tv and this inspired me to have a go at a racing scene so here it is complete with horses and spectators.I love horses they are so majestic!

I have been working on this one for most of the day today and it took a long time to do. In addition to these paintings I met with some Artist friends on Thursday night to complete our communal work and we were pleased with the final picture which I will share when I can get to photograph it.
Last night I was out at a 50th birthday party with a live band and me and Darryl got to have a bit of a boogie which was very nice and we even had a lay in this morning so its a wonder that we got any painting done at all but we did. This is Darryls work!

We sold  both peices of art painted last week today, which is very rewarding and it is good to know people are buying and enjoying our art. Last week was a really busy week  and I painted every day. I have now finished my commisioned peice and will hand it over in the next few days. I am pleased with the outcome generally although it was jolly hard work to include all the information that I was given. I also painted this Peice of work above which I have called Heath Lane. I really enjoyed painting the characters and the orange beetle car.

Red Trolleybus, by Darryl Boddy
SOLD
Darryl has been busy too on a painting which is called Red Trollybus and we finally stopped arguing over paintbrushes and bought some more. This is his painting and I love it !
Apart from the painting this week I have been entertained by my daughter who was in a dance show. I loved seeing the dancers and know that for my daughter dance is also a form of art and self expression. I am looking forward to going to my monthly art group on Thursday this week where we will continue our joint art work. Anyway thank you so much for looking at our blog ,I really get a thrill to see people viewing from all over the world and counting the page views. Have a look next Sunday to see our current works of art and feel free to follow the links to buy if you wish.

Here is this weeks work!
Newton Road by Carolyn Boddy

SOLD
This week I have spent a few days on the comission that I am working on and I also painted all day yesterday to produce a painting to sell online this week. This is what I have painted and I hope you like it. The painting is called Newton Road and I really enjoyed painting the red truck and the characters.
My family have had a busy weekend again as it was my Sons birthday. We have had various celebrations going on at home and a nice lunch out today. This morning I got up early for a Run before breakfast with Darryl, my Husband. We had not got very far when I twisted my knee. It was painful to run on but ok to walk so we walked along the river and saw the couple with the spaniels who's dog I painted into my picture last week. I wanted to stop them and say that I had a had put their little dog in my work and had a great sale but Darryl said they will just think you're crazy. I just gave them a nice smile anyway. The man looked pleased and the woman scowled at him!
Darryl has been busy painting too and we have been arguing over paintbrushes. I must get myself out and buy in some more fine detail brushes. Anyway this is Darryl's work, which I like a lot, It's called Talbot Road.
