Random Blog 13/08/2013

Augustus Pugin
http://www.ucb.co.uk/big-story-pugin
Just a random blog about Augustus Pugin who was a  fantastic architect and designer who designed the houses of Parliament and other great buildings of gothic style that we see around England. Follow the link to learn more, but basically he was an absolute genius who's brilliance can equal famous people like Brunel.
This poor guy in contrast to Brunel was ridiculed for his faith and never really paid properly for his work. His wife died leaving him a single parent at 21 and then his parents both died in the next year of different causes. Two other later wives also died before him and he had a breakdown from over work and was  committed to Bedlam mental institution  for a while.
He died aged 40 having produced a phenomenal amount of work during such a short and tragic life and was not properly rewarded or recognised for the 100 churches he designed in England and Australia.  This got me to thinking that this poor man designed the houses of parliament and wasn't recognised nor mentioned when the building was opened. What a slap in the face ! Just wanted to share this and show some appreciation for genius of the man.

Dagnal Church
Just while I'm talking about churches I thought I'd share this which is an old church that was extended to the left in keeping with the original building by my Husband who also made the stained glass window for it . I always feel really proud of it and I thinks its a mark of real craftsmanship that will be still standing when we are both gone and something that our children can show their children and say " my Dad built that"
Today I have been walking around the Woburn estate in Buckinghamshire and I was able to say such a similar thing to my daughter as my own great grandfather was a blacksmith who made most of the wrought iron work in and around the Woburn estate. Some thing else I am proud of !
There enough randomness..... Thanks for reading Carolyn x

Art week ending 11/08/13

I have taken a couple of weeks rest from Painting and I think it has been good just to step back from it for a while. I had painted most weeks for a  year and a half and sold 98% of my work which is pleasing. I do sell most of my work through Ebay or directly to people as commissions but I may try a different tactic and try have a go at collecting some work to sell in an exhibition or at galleries.
This week I went with some friends to a small place called Winslow which is a fairly small place out past Buckinghamshire . We shopped in some vintage shops which sold one off items and locally made crafts and also art. We shared tea in a lovely tea shop that displayed the work of local artists and it got me thinking that I ought to explore different avenues of sale. Also It made me get my  paint brushes out and this is the result.
I am still thinking about how I will sell her so  she's hanging on my own wall until I decide to do so. Watch this space for more works of art coming soon.

Art week ending 14/7/13

Hi Blog Readers sorry that I'm so late updating the blog this week. I am so bogged down in my Open University study and trying to hit a deadline. I haven't been able to paint so will share something I did a while ago. I have drawn something out and will finish it soon. Until then here is this painting I did of shoes . They are on my own  living room wall but I painted them because I just love shoes. The ribbons are real by the way and I think they work well giving a 3 d effect. Last weeks art went well and my Painting was sold to a person in Tennessee. It pleases me that my art is getting out in the world.  Thanks for reading and look out for more art coming soon.

Art for week ending 30/6/2013
Hi Blog readers! This weeks art is a portrait of Audrey Hepburn who is one of the most beautiful women that I can recall. She has always been a favourite of mine and I especially love the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. For this reason I have painted her from a photograph and I hope you like her. I sat up late one night having started to paint at around 10pm and painted into the early hours to finish her. I am driven to distraction if I have to leave a painting due to other commitments and always strive to finish my art in one or two sessions.  While I was painting Audrey, my husband was sitting not 3 feet away sketching Winston Churchill because that's how we roll! Here they both are ,and I hope you like them.

SOLD Audrey Hepburn sold to Tennessee Texas

I can't seem to turn Winston, Hope you can appreciate him sideways on.

Art from week ending the 23/06/13

                                                                     Sunset Walk   SOLD
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171064329697?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_285wt_958
This is a painting that I did early this evening. I painted it from a photograph and feel quite pleased with it. My husband has been busy sketching today and has done a couple of portraits. He must have inspired me to get my paintbrushes out and this is what I came up with. I have some good ideas for more art for next week and just need the time to do it.
I thought you may also like to see this which my daughter reckons is my finest piece of work to date.
Moroccan Doors
This is not a painting but is in fact a decoupage that I have arranged with clippings cut from print outs off  of the internet. All those people out there who lack the confidence to draw can still make pleasing works of art in any way they wish. I have this hanging in my home and it is often commented upon by friends and family.
This week I went to an exhibition in the centre of town by local art students. I particularly enjoyed the textiles exhibition but the piece that moved me most was a poem with sound effects and graphic visual images. It absolutely scared the cr.....p out of me and I mean this in a good way for I came away having been moved by that art work and that is my measure of good art. If it evokes a feeling be it happy ,scared ,sad then It has made a difference to me.
Next week I am running in the race for life  for cancer research with some friends  so I will need to put in some training but hopefully I will find time to get my numerous ideas on to canvas. Thanks for reading and look out next week for more art.

Art week ending 16/6/2013
Hi blog readers ,This week I have not painted due to the fact that I have been studying hard and have had some things going on in my life that have meant that I couldn't focus on my art. This is rare as I have painted most weeks for nearly two years but this week I did not.
I still wanted to share some art with you so I chose this mixed media piece that I made some 12 years ago and have never sold. I know when I made it because I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 12 and I made it after I had read a book about Tiffany. I have a real passion for glass in all forms and in that book I saw a photograph of a stained glass piece with koi carp. I was greatly inspired but didn't  have the knowledge to make a stained glass panel. I found out that there were glass paints so I purchased some and designed my own work of art which is koi carp in a pond from an above view. I have since learned the real art of stained glass and have been able to make glass panels in the old traditional way.
This artwork is very special to me because the lead work is soldered together and I knew that lead and particularly the lead in solder is very dangerous to handle and to breath the fumes would have been very bad for me and my baby. I really wanted to finish the piece  and knew how to solder through some manufacturing experience when I was young. What I did was to teach my husband how to solder. He had never done it before but picked it up well. He took a lot of hours under close scrutiny from me to finish it  and I think of it as a labour of love. Therefore I shall never part with it. The frame is made from tile mosaic and it is an unusual thing but I am fond of it.
Hoping to get my paintbrushes back out this week, thanks for reading this blog Carolyn.

Art from week ending 9/6/2013

                                              Sunset, couple on the beach

                                                 Now on my Mothers wall

This oil painting was painted today and took most of the day to do. I took inspiration from a photograph and I quite like the way the sky has turned out. I sold a portrait painting today which has pleased me as I rarely paint portraits except for friends.
I have had a busy week in all and very productive weekend. I saw some great mixed media work this week in a school and although I did not meet the artists I know them to be A level students. One had used shoes glued to a canvas and painted on to them which sounds weird but looked wonderful and the other had done a moving picture made from news paper clippings and ink and from a distance the newspaper looked like shading. Such talented artists and so young.
I my self drew pictures all the time as a child but never got into painting until my middle twenties. Art has made me look at the world with different eyes, always looking out for new material for my paintings. Sometimes I can take a few days to become inspired and when I find it I can not rest until I have got my ideas on to canvas. Other things can get left to one side, like the mountain of ironing that I don't know whether to iron or climb and other such jobs. I spoke to an art teacher this week who's speciality is etching. He admitted that he finds it hard to find time to do his own artwork and I think a lot of creative people struggle with time in the hustle and bustle of life. I try to do at least one piece of art a week so if you like my work keep looking at this blog and do follow the link if you want to purchase. Thanks for looking Carolyn

Art for week ending 2/06/2013
This painting is called Rainy Day and I have painted it this evening. I have been away on holiday this week and although I have painted a rainy day I have been lucky and had a week of sunshine in Scotland. I feel rested and have enjoyed some cultural scenes from a beautiful loch at Linlithgow to the Botanical gardens at Glasgow. I even had a day on the beach at Portabello Edinburgh and spent time with family that I don't see enough of. I sold two paintings today and had a nice card from a lady in Surrey who I did a recent commission for to say how please she was with it. I am off to bed now as I am weary from travelling the 7 hours it took to get home but look out for more art next week.

Art from week ending 27/5/2013

sold
Hi Blog readers, I painted this today so it really is hot off the press. Beautiful weather so was able to paint in the garden where the light is better. I did get in trouble for splashing paint every where but I can live with it. I just finished my Ou assignment today so the fact that I have painted is a small miracle. I have crammed a lot of things into 24 hours. I got up and wrote my essay for 3 hours, went for a long walk along the canal with a camera and my family. Took lots of interesting shots for painting material. I came home and painted for a few hours in the sun, cooked a Chinese meal, mowed the grass, played table tennis in our local park with my daughter ,tidied some of the house, the rest is saying clean me now! Alas I am too tired.  My bed is calling me. Will try to write more tomorrow. Goodnight    Carolyn

Elegance 4 by Carolyn Boddy sold

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171043637343?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_272wt_958

This is my artwork from this week! I decided to paint this elegant lady with a pink classic car, she took a good few hours of my time. Time is valuable as I am in the middle of an Open University assignment  so there is little time for painting.  I feel most pleased with the car especially the headlights.
I also posted off my commissioned piece this week ,which was well received and that is a relief to me as you never know if the persons expectations and your artwork are one and the same, however I have had positive results so far. Enough about me!
The artist's work that I want to share this week is Freda Kahlo a Mexican Artist born July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954. Her self portrait is below and she was a remarkable woman. Kahlo had a volatile marriage with the famous Mexican artist  Diego Rivero. She suffered lifelong health problems. Many of her health problems were the result of a traffic accident she survived as a teenager. Recovering from her injuries isolated her from other people and this isolation influenced her works, many of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo suggested, "I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best." She also stated, "I was born a bitch. I was born a painter.
I love the animals in this painting but struggle to understand the necklace and what it symbolises. I admire the honesty in her features but it always bemuses me that if she knew she had a monobrow why did she not deal with it . I am only kidding really she is brave to have painted herself and that is something very difficult to do well. I may challenge myself to have a go at that. I would be tempted to embellish my finer points and air brush out the wrinkles .
I shall sign off now as it is twenty five to one in the morning but if you like my work do follow the link if you wish to buy it. Thanks for reading the blog, viewers are reading from all over the world now which is amazing. More to come next week.

Art week ending 12/05/2013
Hi Blog readers, just checking in with this weeks update.

High Street ,Stony Stratford by Carolyn Boddy
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171039836191?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
This painting took some time to do and was from a photograph of Stony High street. The town is very famous as it was an old coaching town and still has many historical features like the cock hotel and the bull public house which is just down the road. This is where the saying cock and bull story came from as by the time a slightly drunken person had wandered from the cock hotel to the bull public house, what ever gossip  they'd picked up had become distorted somewhat. This painting shows the art gallery ( a favourite place of mine) and the estate agents with the road curving round.
This week I did a small bit of painting and a lot of studying plus I Spent some time away from home at a Hotel in Bedford. I chose it for its Tudor beams and for the fact that it overlooked the river. Very nice hide away for myself and my husband to go to as we celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary.
Last Thursday evening I met with fellow artists and I really enjoyed our evening together which was fun because we painted portraits of each other on large paper with large brushes and limited colours.
Time was limited to ten minuets per picture which meant we had to work fast. We had a real laugh
trying to capture a likeness but the experience was liberating as there was no time  for fine detail. As a rule I do faff about with tiny brushes and small detail but these portraits lacked features that you would ideally capture( like eyes, noses etc.). I feel I can not share the outcome  which in part could be giggled at yet all seven of us had a go and each picture held a special quality and I really enjoyed the company of my fellow artists and the experience of doing something different.
As you know I have started to write a bit in my blog about other artists because I feel the blog will be more interesting if its not just about me. This week I want to mention a surreal artist called Leonora Carrington. I am interested in her work as she is a woman artist and was very famous although not in her home country. She was born and grew up in England but was not really recognised here but was in Mexico where she was a bit of a hero. I am not really a fan of surrealism in general but her work is intriguing, resembling images from a dream.

The Licentiate by Leonora Carrington
Her work is quite amazing don't you think? Anyway she was very unhappy in parts of her life and lived as a recluse after breaking from her German lover around the time of the war. I do think that artists live on the edge a bit and that the part of them that allows them to feel and paint what they feel is also a quality which means they feel too much and as such are very sensitive people. That's just my opinion and I think it applies to musicians as well. Any way thanks for reading and if you do wish to you can follow the link to buy this weeks art and keep a look out on this site for more artwork and news from the art world.

week starting 5th May 2013

Hi Blog readers, this week I am going to share some art that I did a while ago because I haven't painted this week, apart from some work on my commissioned piece which is nearly finished I am glad to say. I have been quite poorly for a couple of days and wasn't really up to painting and I have an assignment that I am reading up for which is stealing my creative time. Anyway I looked back through my work and decided to share this piece which is sold.

I am fond of this painting because it shows the working men's club that is situated in a street near my house and is struggling to keep going in an age where people get their beer cheap in the supermarket. It really is a lovely building that I have always admired. In this painting, have moved it near a corner shop that is also in my town. I used to get my children sweets there on the way home from school.
I like that I can take a building from one place and a tree from another e.c.t and make a whole new setting. Not only do I take buildings and move them around, I also take people and the other thing I like about this painting is that the man with the dog and the lady with the blue scarf are people that I really saw while on a day out in Oxford. I like interesting looking people and they sometimes end up in a painting. Some characters I make up like the post box lady, the old man with a walking stick and the lady with a pram and the cyclist but now and then I do put in the people I see while out and about. I  am also inspired by looking at the work of other artists and try to get to galleries quite often.

Did anyone see the new impressionist painting of the queen by  Artist Dan Llywelyn Hall?
Some people like it and some have criticised it. I myself like it and I think he has a good likeness to the good lady. It is very hard to paint a person and one should remember that a painting will be the artists own impression . Each Artist would see something different and pick out different features that appeal to them.
I  would like to share my own painting of the Queen that I painted  to see if I could get a real likeness to a person. I really enjoyed doing it although I am more comfortable doing street scenes, they are more forgiving. She looks younger in Dan' painting than in mine
sold
I hope to do some more art next week so if you enjoy this blog,  look  out on Sunday when I usually update the blog. Thanks for reading Carolyn.

Monday, 29 April 2013

Hi Blog readers, I must apologise for being one day late for this weeks blog. I have been celebrating my daughters birthday and time ran away with me yesterday so that before I knew it I was up to my eyes in wrapping paper and presents and then It was too late to start writing.
Here is this weeks painting better late than never.
Moors road by Carolyn Boddy  sold

Apart from this painting I have still been plodding on with a commissioned work plus I did a quick bird painting whilst working with some young people all drawing birds. ( Yes I know it's random!). I enjoyed this very much and the company of the young people I was working with although it was fast and furious and is a bit rough around the edges given the time limit. I felt pleased with it and this was the nicest part of a very hectic and challenging day.

My artist choice for this week is Charles Rennie Mackintosh 1868-1928 and here is a sample of his very fine work.

Here is a photo of the great man,I am lovng his moustache! I have admired  his work for years. He designed paintings, buildings, furniture and stained glass and I thought that such talent deserved a mention. Click the link to see more.

This Week I intend to finish my commission, go to my art group and do some studying. There are just not enough hours in the day. Thanks for reading and do follow the link to buy if you wish. My work that is, not Charles Lol!.

Hi blog readers, just one painting to share this week as I have been working on a commision which I am enjoying, Another beach scene and here it is.
Walking dogs on the beach by Carolyn Boddy
                                                sold

Apart from painting this week I have socialised a bit with old friends that I worked with years ago and that was fun and I felt like I was 20 again just for a while. I enjoyed a day out in Buckingham yesterday with my family where I looked around a little antiques market and sat by the river for a while in the sunshine. Buckingham is really a very pretty town that might find its way into my paintings sometime soon.
Looking at the Blog views this week I am thrilled to see that I have readers from Columbia, Italy and Pakistan. It's really nice that my art is being seen across the world thanks to the internet.

Another  Artist that I would like to share this week is George Bellows who died in 1925 aged 42 from peritonitis . I love this painting because of the movement in it.You can almost hear the hooves of the horse.

He is very famous for painting boxing matches which is how I got to notice him( My Husband is a big boxing fan). He found that Vanity fair magazine did a large write up and printed many of his paintings in 1920. If you would like to see more of him have a google in images or visit the Royal Academy in London until the 9th of June.We are going to go, Definately!
If you like this weeks work, click on the link to buy and have a look next week for more art from myself and other artists. Thanks for looking.

Art for week beginning 14/4/2013
Hi Blog readers, this week I have done 3 paintings, one that I will keep for a local gallery and two to share with you. The first was inspired by a programme I watched on Jack Vetriano. I have been a fan of his for a long time. Anyway this is what I came up with which is my own painting entirely but inspired by watching him do a portrait of Cara Tointon.
Woman with cat by Carolyn Boddy

The lady comes from a photo and the cat is from my own imagination. In the photo the woman was wearing a plain mac but I so enjoyed doing the fur on the cat that I got to painting a furry collar on her coat. I am quite pleased with the wall  too. Hope you like it anyway.
The other painting is a street scene which I havce called Glyn street,I have included some of my regular characters and here it is.
Glyn Street 2 by Carolyn Boddy
SOLD
I hope you like the paintings and do click on the links to buy if you wish.
I am about to start a commission which is exciting for a lady who has purchased a few of my paintings and hope to have it done by next week. I was also asked by a different person to alter a painting I had done but I declined to do so and offered to paint a new painting because I felt the painting would somehow lose its integrity. Not sure if the offer will be taken up yet but I am happy with my decision.
Darryl has somehow managed not to paint at all this week although he has a picture drawn out ready and we have both made a sale this evening.
The other Artist I want to talk about this week has to be Jack Vetriano. I greatly admire him because he is self taught and is so popular with the public selling lots of his work. In the art world he has not I feel been properly recognised and I think that is sad. Watching a documentry about him this week I saw what an ordinary guy he was and felt he deserves more recognition. Here is one of my favourite paintings of his.

Art from week 7/4/2013
Hi Blog readers I am about to share the art from this week. Not as much has been done as I had hoped but anyway isn't it always the way? My first piece is a seascape and here it is

A walk on the beach by Carolyn Boddy
SOLD
I thought I'd do another beach scene as the last one was popular and was sold and posted to California in America. There is more of a rolling wave and sunset sky in this one. I really enjoyed trying to get the sea right and as always I enjoyed adding the people and animals.

Leon Park 3 by Carolyn Boddy sold
This one is inspired by the sunny weather this week and a football game in the park near my house. I have added daffodils for some spring cheer and painted a blue sky as I am tired of snow and cold weather. At least in my paintings I can change the weather. I my self have been quite under the weather this week and spent a couple of days in bed with flue so only two paintings to share. I have one more nearly done, which Intend to take to a gallery and I have picked up a commissioned painting too which is delightful. I received a nice email from someone who had brought my work as a gift for a relative and  that had been gladly received and that is lovely! So all is going quite well with the painting.  Darryl has been busy too and here is his work!
Nice car lad, by Darryl Boddy sold

I'm loving the car as I have a real pasion for classic cars.
Also  here is another
Mending the pot holes by Darryl Boddy sold

I love the blue roofs and the atmospheric feel of this painting.
So if you like our work this week do feel free to follow the links to buy.

As you know I also like to share the work of another artist with you and this week I shall just mention the work of Roy Lichtenstein who's work you can look out for at the Tate Modern until the 27th of May. He looked to comic books for inspiration and here is a sample of his work which I really like!
He used screen tone dots to do his shading. He would also take single frames from comic books and project them onto canvases and paint them in colour.
Look out next week for more of our work and thanks for reading the blog!

Better late than never, here is this weeks art

Heavy Load by Darryl Boddy  SOLD

Maintain the Scotsman by Darryl Boddy sold

We have painted all of these paintings this week and you may click on the links if you wish to buy one. The painting is going very well and we are selling all of our work. Last week we sent paintings to Qatar in the Middle East and this week one will go to America. I am getting some good feedback on the paintings and this week a lady contacted me who'd seen a painting on a friends wall to say how much she liked my work and she then went on to purchase a painting. This is really nice as so many artists struggle to sell.
I have been poorly for a couple of days so I am a day late in updating and so I am sorry for that and it is also impacting on my ability to paint. Hope to get back in the swing soon.
I like to talk a bit about other artists in the blog and this week I will chat about Norman Akroid who  does etchings of landscapes. He was born into a family of Butchers who laughed at him for wanting to pursue a career in the art world. Thankfully he did not listen, went to art school and now does what he loves for a living. Isn't it true that if you find a job you like you never have to do a days work in your life?
                                          Norman Akroids lovely landscape
Any way for me I am glad that we are able to sell our work as the money has helped pay for my Psychology degree course, given us money to spend on holidays and at times we have had to use it to pay the bills. Art is a great gift and for many years I did not dare to try and sell but painted
for friends or family as a gift and it gave me great pleasure to do so. I  have been encouraged to put my art out in the world and the response I am getting is just lovely. Thanks for looking  and there will be more art next week

Sunday, 17 March 2013

Hi blog readers, this has been a fairly busy week and I have 3 paintings to share with you today.I also wanted to tell you that I finished my commisioned work and had a good reaction from the recipient. This pleased me because I always worry when working on a commision that the customer has an idea of what they want and that what I do won't be it! In truth I have had a good reaction from all of the paintings I have been commisioned to do so far, but they are so much harder to paint than my every day work. This one in particular had lots of things to include and I took time to think how to arrange things in a street scene and also to get each bit looking right. Any way I am relieved now its done. In addition to the commission I worked on this painting which I have called Church Street after a street near my home town. I photographed part of the scene whilst out jogging a week or two ago.
Church street by Carolyn Boddy  sold
I particuarly like the church in the painting but in reality there is no bright light coming from the window because the buiding has been unused as a church for as long as I have lived in my home town. It is architectually beautiful and in my simplistic style I don't do it justice. Sadly it has stood empty and disused  and although I admire the building I have never been in it because the floor is unsafe. Any way recently I have found out that it has been purchased by a local church group who are restoring it. I feel pleased as its a lovely building and maybe one day it will have a light shining from those leaded windows just like in my painting. Any way, as well as this painting I have been watching a bit of the Cheltnam horse racing on the tv and this inspired me to have a go at a racing scene so here it is complete with horses and spectators.I love horses they are so majestic!

I have been working on this one for most of the day today and it took a long time to do. In addition to these paintings I met with some Artist friends on Thursday night to complete our communal work and we were pleased with the final picture which I will share when I can get to photograph it.
Last night I was out at a 50th birthday party with a live band and me and Darryl got to have a bit of a boogie which was very nice and we even had a lay in this morning so its a wonder that we got any painting done at all but we did. This is Darryls work!

We sold  both peices of art painted last week today, which is very rewarding and it is good to know people are buying and enjoying our art. Last week was a really busy week  and I painted every day. I have now finished my commisioned peice and will hand it over in the next few days. I am pleased with the outcome generally although it was jolly hard work to include all the information that I was given. I also painted this Peice of work above which I have called Heath Lane. I really enjoyed painting the characters and the orange beetle car.

Red Trolleybus, by Darryl Boddy
SOLD
Darryl has been busy too on a painting which is called Red Trollybus and we finally stopped arguing over paintbrushes and bought some more. This is his painting and I love it !
Apart from the painting this week I have been entertained by my daughter who was in a dance show. I loved seeing the dancers and know that for my daughter dance is also a form of art and self expression. I am looking forward to going to my monthly art group on Thursday this week where we will continue our joint art work. Anyway thank you so much for looking at our blog ,I really get a thrill to see people viewing from all over the world and counting the page views. Have a look next Sunday to see our current works of art and feel free to follow the links to buy if you wish.

Hi Blog Readers, I am about to let you know what's been happening in my week and share my art with you. Just had some very good sales and I am delighted that there was lots of interest in last weeks paintings. All paintings sold and they will be dispatched to their buyers this week.
Here is this weeks work!
Newton Road by Carolyn Boddy

SOLD
This week I have spent a few days on the comission that I am working on and I also painted all day yesterday to produce a painting to sell online this week. This is what I have painted and I hope you like it. The painting is called Newton Road and I really enjoyed painting the red truck and the characters.
My family have had a busy weekend again as it was my Sons birthday. We have had various celebrations going on at home and a nice lunch out today. This morning I got up early for a Run before breakfast with Darryl, my Husband. We had not got very far when I twisted my knee. It was painful to run on but ok to walk so we walked along the river and saw the couple with the spaniels who's dog I painted into my picture last week. I wanted to stop them and say that I had a had put their little dog in my work and had a great sale but Darryl said they will just think you're crazy. I just gave them a nice smile anyway. The man looked pleased and the woman scowled at him!
Darryl has been busy painting too and we have been arguing over paintbrushes. I must get myself out and buy in some more fine detail brushes. Anyway this is Darryl's work, which I like a lot, It's called Talbot Road.

Hello Blog readers! Well just wanted to share the art that myself and my Husband have produced this week. All of last weeks paintings sold and that is very encouraging. This has been a busy week and I have been at home with my daughter as its been the school hols. You may think that I have got many paintings done, but two paintings are what I have actually managed as I have been re organising my house and entertaining my daughter. Here is the first of the Paintings

Anson Road by Carolyn Boddy  SOLD

This was painted on Thursday and on Friday I wasn't able to paint as we had some Friends over for dinner. I drank much vino and didn't get to bed until 3am and then at 6am Saturday I got up with a huge headache (self inflicted) so I wasn't up to painting. We  had been invited to some other freinds on Saturday for more socialising and a spot of Roulette. This was great fun but I kept off the vino and when I got home very late I had some inspiration for a painting. I knew that my Husband Darryl planned to paint all day today so I got up early and painted a picture to make sure he could access the best painting spot and here it is.

                                                     Hot of the press today!

Forest Road by Carolyn Boddy. SOLD
This painting is inspired by two separate photos, one of a woman on a bike and another separate photo of some woodland. This morning I went jogging at about 10am and while out I saw a couple with a black spaniel and sure enough a black spaniel got added in to the painting, complete with the little coat he was wearing, so here it is! There is also a black cat in the tree because I owned one once, called Angel and although she is now in cat heaven, she often creeps into my paintings as she was very special to me and my family.
Darryl has also been busy painting a train which he enjoyed doing very much. The train is called the Kingfisher which I am informed that it is a  class A3 locamotive. The painting is very pleasing and I am sure it will sell as there are many train fans out there in the world. Here it is!

Next week I must do a commision for someone and I am struggling to find a way to link the many photos that they have provided me with into a painting. I am off to the drawing board now and expect a late night. Look out for more art work next week and follow the links to buy if you wish to do so.
