Hi Blog readers, this week I have done 3 paintings, one that I will keep for a local gallery and two to share with you. The first was inspired by a programme I watched on Jack Vetriano. I have been a fan of his for a long time. Anyway this is what I came up with which is my own painting entirely but inspired by watching him do a portrait of Cara Tointon.
Woman with cat by Carolyn Boddy
The lady comes from a photo and the cat is from my own imagination. In the photo the woman was wearing a plain mac but I so enjoyed doing the fur on the cat that I got to painting a furry collar on her coat. I am quite pleased with the wall too. Hope you like it anyway.
The other painting is a street scene which I havce called Glyn street,I have included some of my regular characters and here it is.
Glyn Street 2 by Carolyn Boddy
SOLD
I hope you like the paintings and do click on the links to buy if you wish.
I am about to start a commission which is exciting for a lady who has purchased a few of my paintings and hope to have it done by next week. I was also asked by a different person to alter a painting I had done but I declined to do so and offered to paint a new painting because I felt the painting would somehow lose its integrity. Not sure if the offer will be taken up yet but I am happy with my decision.
Darryl has somehow managed not to paint at all this week although he has a picture drawn out ready and we have both made a sale this evening.
The other Artist I want to talk about this week has to be Jack Vetriano. I greatly admire him because he is self taught and is so popular with the public selling lots of his work. In the art world he has not I feel been properly recognised and I think that is sad. Watching a documentry about him this week I saw what an ordinary guy he was and felt he deserves more recognition. Here is one of my favourite paintings of his.
